Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may KNOW and BELIEVE me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
“Believe” is based on the knowledge you have. When this “believe” is put to work it becomes faith.
You may believe but not have faith, just like the demons in James 2:19.
The scriptures say they believe and tremble. They can’t put their “believe” to work.
You move from stage of believe to the the stage of faith when you put to work that which you believe.
A good example is Matthew 9:27-30, the story of the 2 blind men. In verse 27 they followed Jesus and cried for mercy based on their knowledge about the son of David, the Messiah.
At this stage they believe. Jesus then asked them if they can put their “believe” to work by accepting that He can make them to see .
They said “yes” at that stage it turned to faith. – the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.
So Jesus then said “let it be to you according to your “faith”, not according to your “believe”.
JESUS IS LORD
