TOPIC: GONE FOREVER
TEXT: ROMANS 6:6
” We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin .”
When a person dies, we say, “Gone forever.”
They are gone forever, not because they physically disappeared but because the spirit inside has departed.
That’s why you see friends weep because the person can no longer relate with them as he or she used to be.
What is old self?
It is human nature! Human nature exist because of the physical structure.
Old self consists of certain behavior that come with the package called human.
That package called sin or old self is inseparable from physical body structure!
What Christ did was empty human nature in the physical human body and drank it.
It is that content called human nature that is offensive to God. So, Christ bore our sin on his own body.
For example, if you drank Coca-Cola in the bottle of Coca-Cola and refill it with water, it is now bottled water even though the bottle is still Coca-Cola.
We name things after the content and not the container.
Your physical human body is just like the bottle of Coca-Cola now filled with water.
We are not what you used to be. Your old sef(the content called sin) has been taken away and gone forever.
This is what happened on the cross. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who perish. But for those who believe and act likewise, it is the power of God.
