TOPIC: WHO SHALL DELIVER ME

TEXT: ROMANS 7:24

“O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Paul, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, when battling with sin, made the above statement.

We shall dwell on two words:

1. Wretched

2. Who

1.

To be wretched is to be in much want beyond description.

Brethren, God wants us to be conscious of our inability to provide what only Himself has and reserves for us..

Even though He already provided them, until we come to term in our mind and soul that we are not the source of salvation, we continue to struggle with besetting sin.

Even though save, I have never seen anyone who struggles to overcome sin who eventually was not beaten down by sin.

Paul began in Roman chapter 7 on how he struggled with sinful habits but ended in chapter 8 on how he found true freedom in Christ.

2.

” Who(not what) shall deliver me…”

Paul, unlike many of us present day, Christian was not searching for what to deliver him but who to deliver him.

After he tried so many “what” he switched to ” who”

Yesterday, God made it know that salvation is a person and not what we do.

If we continue to see salvation less than a person, we abuse the person of Christ and His finished work on the cross.

When you struggle with sin and fight to overcome it, sin rejoices. The reason is because sin and your flesh know that’s wrong way.

For example, if you want to drive to work today and finds your car trying to push its way through the uncleared forest, that is a sign you are not on the right way.

Even if that place seem closer to your workplace, it isn’t the road.

God’s way is not our way.

You drive smooth through prepared path. All you need is follow where it leads.

The path lead through to the one who asks you to come unto Him. It doesn’t lead to self righteousness or struggle.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest… For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

God says it is easy!

Fasting can never overcome sin if fasting didn’t get you saved at first.

Everyone who got saved by grace didn’t plan to get saved. It’s God who quickened our conscience and made us alive unto Him.

All you do is yield.

The message of the cross is so simple that it makes many to be offended at the word destined unto their glory and eventually stumbled.

The jew stumbled at the same message. The Galatians church started well by receiving Christ but later resorted to struggle.

The question in man had always been, ” How could you just ask me to yield? Is that all I need for all the sin fighting me?”

God’s answer is YES

Accept who he made you. Talk directly to Him. Tell Him you have accepted and immediately the grace of God will take effect.

God doesn’t even want you to feel that you can. So, when you finally come to the end of yourself, angels clap ???? for you because they know God is about to take the Glory over your life.

I REMEMBERED:

when I used to struggle with besetting sins. Like Paul, the more I struggled against what I didn’t want, the more it came after me.

Infact, the more I fasted to overcome sin, the more sin credited more alert in my consciousness account.

One day, I refused to pray and spoke directly with God as though I was looking Him in the face.

I said to him I was tired and was not going to do anything more to be free.

I said to him how He should be aware of my detest for what I keep doing.

I told Him, since I am not the one who created me and who saved me, He should carry on with His works and that I was willing to let Him if He was willing.

After those words, The Lord released grace even though I didn’t know how and all those besetting sins gone forever.

God’s grace doesn’t deliver small by small, Grace teaches us to say no to sin.

Are you tired of sin and of finding what to do rather than who to yield to?

This is another opportunity for you.

When an airplane wants to fly, just as the upthrust law makes the law of gravity seem like noneffect, the grace of God, while at work, make the sinful nature seem like dead for those who have yielded.

I hope this blesses you!
