“Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
This is a story of Jesus when he met a Samaritan woman at the well.
The woman made a statement that calls my attention to a lifetime lesson.
This well was dug by Jacoc a few thousand years before Christ.
Imagine this well was well taken care of till today. This became a public well yet was well maintained.
No specific machinery was used to dig the well, but the well was well kept.
The name attached to the well was Jacob.
Despite God changed his name to Isreal, they still called him after his old name(a cheater)
You God changed his name from bad to good. A good father leaves inheritance for his children’s children.
His new nature left a legacy for other generations. His old names had no more power on him.
Do not just change your name to Christian, but let the new nature of Christ in you speak louder than your past disobedience.
At the well of Jacob, Divinity met with humanity. Just like the time Jacob wrestle with the Angel and the revelation of his past was reviewed, the Samaritan woman also had the same experience.
This well was not just a monument but a pulpit where God sent a word unto Jacob and it had lighted on Isreal.
The maintenance was worth it. Keep and maintain every experience you had with God. That becomes a lesson for generations to come.
