TOPIC: IMORALITY
TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:3
“But among you there must *not be even a hint of sexual immorality,* or of *any kind of impurity* , or of greed, because these are improper for *God’s holy people.*”
The Lord called my attention to this topic this morning.
The reason the Holy Spirit called out this topic may be for 3 reasons.
1. Those who have fallen into this sin and have continued in the act.
2. Those whom the devil might be plotting their fall.
3. Those who had once fallen and by the grace of God they have overcome and are back on their prigrim journey.
Whatever category you may find yourself, I want you to take note of the following lessons.
1. Sin doesn’t run away from us, but rather we are to flee all appearances of sin.
2. If you are involved in this act, you’re not the only one it hurts. It hurts God. It hurts the local church you belong, just like any pain on any part of the body causes the entire body to be in distress.
3. You have never been given grace to overcome this sin. Just as you won’t drink poisoned water because you are thirsty, you should because of the way you feel practice this act.
4. Do not think you are stronger than others who fell but understand it is by grace you stand.
5. You may not be able to overpower this act in the closet. Bring it to light. Confess your fault one to another. Confide in any spiritual leader.
6. Be transparent to God on how you have struggled and sincerely ask The Lord to help you.
7. Return whatever needs to be returned and burn the bridge behind you.
“And indeed if they had been remembering that from where they came out, they would have had opportunity to return.”Hebrew 11:15
8. Don’t visit opposite sex alone. Go in the company of another.
9. Don’t counsel or conduct deliverance alone with the opposite sex.
10. Always remember that, the wages of sin is bigger than the pleasure that comes with it.
11. Remember how it happened in the past and learn from the past to avoid the same thing repeating itself.
12. Remember God already forgave you of your past sins and forgive yourself and walk in His love and purpose for your life.
I tell you, it will be alright. Christ is your righteousness. You don’t have to fall.
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
