TEXT: Revelation 2: 4, 5
“.. you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works
When I was growing up as a little child, because my dad was a pastor in Deeper life Bible church(used to be Deeper Christian life ministry) , we had so many church people who live in our house.
In those days, there was a strong persecution against anyone who professes to be born again! Some were put in police custody by parents.
The last solution for them was live in the pastor’s house!
I found out these believers became stronger as the persecution increased! What the devil used against them became the standpoint of their strengths.
Roman 8:35 was one the favorite Scriptures in those days.
” Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?”
When the new age Christians came, we found out that, if a brother or a sister sees another taking ice cream ???? and he she can not afford, he/she might feel depressed and stop serving God.
These are the kind of challenges that make this present time perilous! It is called self.
In those days, when the devil found out those persecutions were not working, he stopped it.
You see, whatever you acknowledge affects you more, which is what the devil will use against you more.
As Christians, the one who saved our souls knows everything about us that we go through.
I know your works , your labor, your patience , … how you have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary Revelation 2:2, 3
He went further to say,
” Nevertheless, I have this against you, that you have left your first love.”
It means what Christ called ” first love and first works” were those works done before because of the love the person has for Jesus!
Even though he/she still works now, there are other motivating factors apart from the father’s love.
Only Christ love ❤️ can save us from this perilous time.
Jesus asked this boldly:
Luke 18:8
when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
WHAT KIND OF FAITH COULD HE BE REFERRING TO?
Galatians 5:6 shows us the kind of faith:
“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.”
So, when he says, “Do the first works, he is saying LET YOUR FAITH BE THAT WHICH IS ACTIVELY AT WORK BECAUSE OF YOUR LOVE ❤️ FOR JESUS!
” keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”
Jude 1:21
These messages call for sober reflection ???? and am intently searching my own self to please the one who has called you and I unto Lively hope.
