A NEW NAME
Genesis 32:28, 29
“And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
“And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said, Why is it that you do ask after my name? And he blessed him there.”
It was after the Angel broke Jacob’s thigh that He called him strong.
The more God removes whatever you consider as strength, the more power you have with God and man.
There are Christians who want to win every argument, be right at times, and had never for once realized their wrong. Everyone is always wrong except themselves.
1 Samuel 2:9
For by strength shall no man prevail.
Last week, I asked a young white mother the name of her little lively daughter, and her response was LOLA. I then asked her the meaning, she said, “According to a movie,”child of sorrow.”
After I told her that, in ???????? the name LOLA has something to with weath, she chose mine.
There are many believers in Christ whose names do not glorify God. The authority the enemy exercises over their lives is through their names.
Sometimes, some of us sound spiritual as if it doesn’t really matter. Whatever name you answer to is your identity.
In this verses of the scripture, Jacob also asked for the name of the angel.
Psalm 91:14
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name
The name of The Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it, and they saved.
Maybe knowing His name means knowing His word.
Knowledge of God set you apart and set you on high.
Psalm 138:2
for You have exalted Your word above all Your name.
Psalm 19:13
“and his name is called The Word of God.”
