TOPIC: HOW THE NEW MAN WAS WIRED TO LIVE
TEXT: COLOSSIANS 3:10
“and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”
Do you know there are so many people in churches who are not born again at all.
They don’t even know what it means to be born of God.
They practice religion so much that they even look so real than those who are really born of God.
If a young child sees a plastic banana ???? he will start crying, asking the mother to get him one.
They appear so real that unless you as an adult come closer, you may think it is a real banana.
You know that is how children of God who were babies married unbelievers; supposing they were truly born of God.
Let us draw the line:
Whether you do miracles, receive miracles, speak in tongues, prophesy… I don’t care.
The truth remains, if you are not born of God, you do not belong to Him. It means you don’t carry God’s DNA.
1 John 3:9
” Anyone having been born of God does not practice sin because His(God’s) seed abides in him, and he is not able to continue sinning because he has been born of God.”
Do you know there are pastors who are not even born again.
To be born again has nothing to do with standing before the altar and repeating word for word.
You can do all of such and not even be born of God.
The work of regeneration happens when The Holy Spirit, through the word of God, convicts you of sin(the nature), and in your response, you stop trying to make your own life good but accept God’s provision(Christ) in exchange for your struggles and self righteousness.
The fruit of this is what leads to confessing Christ as your Lord and personal Savior before many witnesses.
Your confession is therefore your conviction that Jesus Christ died for your sin, was buried, and on the third day, He was raised for your justification.
Anything outside of SAVED BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH ALONE is *’an artificial gospel.’*
I knew there was a problem somehow when some so-called altar call started in ‘PENTECOSTAL CHURCHES’ whereby eyes were closed before altar call was made.
There were those who only responded to the finished work of Christ because the preacher told everyone to close their eyes.
What kind of salvation is that! You are ashamed you want to receive the eternal life that Christ paid with His blood?
There are those who answered altar call after much persuasion simply because the preacher told them that only those who belong to God will receive miracles in that service.
So, everyone rushed to answer altar call because they needed healing or money for their businesses.
That was what brought us to where we are today in many churches.
Sir/ma, don’t let it bother you that I tell you that YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN.
After you are born again, you then begin to go through discipleship.
Discipleship is not a course! Discipleship is an ongoing learning and living to conform to the image of Christ. Learning is basically for living and not for preaching.
In Mathew 11:29 Jesus said learn of me.
In Mathew 10:25 Jesus said it is enough for a disciple to be as his master.
In discipleship, you unlearn who the old man is by putting on the new man.
Just like Coca-Cola is not defined by the bottle but the content, the old man is the nature already corrupted by sin.
God doesn’t improve the old man. It was put to death through the cross of Christ.
” Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.” Colossians 3:10
Let me explain the process:
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:46
“The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual”
When a baby is born, the baby could do absolutely everything if allowed to grow the proper way.
I used “the proper way” because, it isn’t just food that grows us into what we become today.
What we hear, what we see, how we live and respond shaped us into who we are today.
After a child is born, if the baby is not allowed to exercise or use the legs, those legs will remain as small as they were.
That’s why you see those who are disabled that, the part of their limbs they don’t move look so small like that of a baby while the part they use become so muscular and big.
So, it is not just food alone that shaped us.
The same is applicable Spiritually.
It isn’t just the word you hear preached(food) but acting on those words develop your spiritual limbs.
” The natural first”
What does this mean?
When the baby is born, ever before the baby starts to develop the knowledge about herself, the world around, if the baby is placed in the environment where only monkeys ???? ???? are seen and heard, as the baby grows up, he will eventually start jumping like monkeys.
The difference will be that, the baby will not be able to act perfectly as the monkeys because, by default, he was created a human being.
Now, the reason the baby started to behave like a monkey is because he never saw any human being. He never knew who he was like.
So, the baby internalize the image he saw and accepted as his identity.
That is the explanation of what it means by ” THE NATURAL FIRST” according to 1 Corinthians 15:46
The day the baby finally meets the real human being, even though they look more alike, the baby(now a man) will start to wonder why the man isn’t jumping on the trees like himself and his friends(monkeys)
He will become confused. Seeing human being for the first time and also realizing he not jumping like a monkey.
The only way he can learn his true identity is to first leave the monkeys and start living with only human beings.
That is why the first thing God did to those us who are born of Him is translate us from Kingdom of darkness into His marvelous light.
The word “marvelous light” simply means you are marveled.
The identity you now witness contradict the one you used to know.
That’s why am not comfortable with Children of God whose friends are most unbelievers.
They won’t let you discover your true identity in Christ. The old is going to be conflicting with the new.
You can’t condition a room to be cold except you shut the door against fresh air.
If you open the door and you power on your air conditioner, the room temperature will not really change.
The new man in Christ discovers his or her identity as he beholds who God says he/she is from God’s word; whether through preaching, teaching, reading, follow men of faith or by acting on the revealed word.
Every knowledge ends in application. We learn for living.
The works of discipleship, regeneration and renewal of mind starts as we rediscover our true identity after we have been born a new creation.
The more we know and accept our identity as revealed in God’s Word, the more it is easy for us to live the Christ life.
Even though it takes a while before a baby begins to walk, once he begins to walk, it will be apparent that he is acting like he is wired to live by default.
It may take some time for the man to adjust from behaving like monkey, but he will notice that, whenever he acts or walks like human being, it is more easier to do so.
That is why a believer should never consider who God says he or she is as weird or impossible.
He must accept what God says he can do through Christ and not in the power of his old nature.
He must understand that, though the natural comes first, he is now a new creature of which Christ is our first fruit.
So, the more he reads about Christ and learn Christ, he sees not just who he could be but who he has been made to be.
So, the more that man stops living amongst monkey and live like and walk human, the more easier to live and act like what he was originally wired to be.
So, when Christ says, ” COME UNTO ME ALL YE THAT LABOR….”
He isn’t just saying WALK UP TO ME.
Rather, he is says “EVOLVE INTO THE IMAGE OF HIM WHO CREATED YOU IN HIS OWN IMAGE.”
It means, Christ became unto us the example of the invisible image of God that we once lost.
Once we begin to learn Christ, our true identity we exchanged for the old man(fallen natural) will begin to be restored.
Revelation 21:8
” But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
” SECOND DEATH” Hmm …
That was the reason Jesus went to hell to set them free.
Hebrew 2:14-15
” that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
You have to die to self. Let Christ be The Lord. He died for you by saying to the father, ” Not my will but your will be done.”
So that you may live to say to Him who died for you, ” Not my will but yours be done.”
This kind of teaching that explains details of salvation from the very foundation is not common.
I have never felt so joyful few days ago after I wrote a devotion and The Lord said to me:
“I AM PROUD OF YOU. ”
Still wandering ???? who am I for The most High to say such lovely ???? words.
I just want to please Him always.
2 Corinthians 5:15
“And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”
