TOPIC: HIGHWAY OF HOLINESS
TEXT: ISAIAH 35:8
“And there will be a highway called the Way of Holiness. The unclean will not travel it—only those who walk in the Way—and fools will not stray onto it.”
One day, a police officer pulled me because he noticed my break light was out.
I was so shocked because I didn’t know. He saw I was not aware.
It is possible to have checked your break light and an hour after it goes out.
Because it was too late to find any auto zone, he advised me to drive through the highway back home.
He did this probably to reduce the use of break and also the risk of being pulled up by another officer.
For example, if I wear a tattoo on my body, even though I am saved, I would have to explain to an unsaved person who doesn’t believe in the use of tattoos!
Even though I am saved by Grace through faith alone, he or she can not see my faith.
He needs to see something that reveals my faith.
Yes, we are not saved by works; but we were saved unto good works.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
Even though nothing may be wrong with the use of a tattoo, it is like stop signs that will have me explain and clarify your intentions every time.
And because there are some of those unbelievers who would never follow your faith because they do not believe in tattoo, because of this, you lose some to the devil.
I know you are so spiritual that this means nothing to you.
Do you know this is the reason Paul said he became all things to all men that he might at least win some.
1 Cor 9:19
He was not talking of conforming to their sinful lifestyle but he was talking of maintaining a more excellent way and a high way of holiness that will give opportunities to more sinners to follow the faith he had in The Christ without contractions.
Honestly, culture or none, there are things patriarchs of old didn’t do.
There are things that some Christians do now that they learn from the world ???? system.
The Bible warns ⚠️ us of the danger of conforming to the system of this world.
One day, I was asking The Lord why some Christians always explain away outward appearance.
The answer He gave was like: “don’t mind them, if they draw close enough to me, they will dress like I want them to appear”
This is just my thoughts:
Spiritually, everyone dresses like or imitate the culture or environment where they live.
If you draw closer enough to God, you will see what others couldn’t see from afar.
Listen to Me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were cut, And to the quarry from which you were dug. Look to Abraham, your father
And to Sarah, who gave birth to you in pain ; When he was only one I called him, Isaiah 51:1-2
These two patriarchs were alone when God called them. They didn’t copy anyone. The reason they do what they do was not because they saw it in the culture around them.
God shaped them to become a culture for many generations yet unborn.
God is calling our generation to a highway of holiness!
If this is not taken seriously, one day, a preacher will be smoking on the pulpit or a sister wearing only bra leading praise!
And you know what? We will always have explanations for it, right from the Bible!
