JOHN CHAPTER 1
35. Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.
36. And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God!”
37. The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38. Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), “where are you staying?”
39. He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where He was staying and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).
40. One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
LESSONS:
● John stood with his two disciples. looking at Jesus as He walked…
YOU WILL ALWAYS SEE FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE STANDING. Make sure you stand where you will see the gift of God.
● John said to his two disciples, “Behold the Lamb of God.” and the disciples started following Jesus. To someone else, that statement “Behold the Lamb of God” doesn’t make sense.
What draws some to Christ is what causes others to stumble and abandon the faith. Heaven will be full of surprises.
● Jesus turned and asked what they were seeking. Every follower is seeking something. They answered a question with the question: “Where are you staying?”
The answers to some questions in life are hidden in the answer to another.
● Jesus said, “COME AND SEE.” Meaning, “If you want to see, come with me.” revelation is a product of journey with God. The path of the just shine ✨️ brighter.
● The time they got to Jesus’ house 🏠 was about the tenth hour(4pm) just 2 hours before sunset. It wasn’t dark yet. I could imagine the 2 disciples having sightseeing around the house. There were some of John the Baptist disciples who didn’t return. Just a night with God can make you change your mind.
● Even though Andrew brought Simon Peter to Jesus, his name was not as famous as Peter. There will be many secret disciples we will know only when we get to heaven.
