SECRETS OF DISCIPLES
LUKE CHAPTER 24
27. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29. But they constrained him, saying, abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them,he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
32. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
THE LESONS:
● Whenever you read the old testament, you must seek to know the nature of Jesus hid in those characters.
● God always gives us opportunities to reveal what we truly desire. Jesus acted like he didn’t want to abide with them. Because they truly wanted him to stay, even though they didn’t know he was Jesus, they love hospitality. Years ago, the Lord asked me to give a gift to someone, and when I was about to transfer it, He said NO. He told me to drive 🚗 and hand it over. It took me about 12 hours on the road. Many people don’t complete obedience because it wasn’t truly their desire to do what God commands. To such kind of people, the commandment of God is burdensome. Abraham traveled 3 days’ journey, and he would have changed his mind if he didn’t truly love God. There are some of you that God asked you to give something to someone, and after a few days when a need arises, you spend it.
● Jesus sat at meat with them. Religion tells you God is in a particular building such that you couldn’t even discern Him elsewhere.
● Jesus broke the bread 🍞 and their eyes opened. The presence of Jesus didn’t open their eyes until He broke the bread. Ask The Lord to open your eyes to know Him intimately.
● Jesus later vanished from their sight. He walked 🚶♂️ with them for their sake. He didn’t need their hospitality either. He didn’t eat their food. Whatever we permit God in our lives is for our own sake.
● They remembered how their hearts burned 🔥 when he walked with them and opened the scripture. The fire🔥 was not because they knew Jesus. It was to first of all burn and empty them of their ignorance of what is written about Christ. After you must have experienced the fire 🔥 , please sit down and learn Christ.
