THE REVIEWS OF AUGUST 8, 2024 DEVOTION
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?
John 2:14, 15, 16
14. And found in the temple those that sold
oxen and sheep and
doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15. And when he had made a whip of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;”
16. And said to them that sold doves take these things hence;
Make not my father’s house a house of merchandise.
LESSONS:
3 categories of animals Jesus drove out are:
1. He drove out sheep 🐑
2. He drove out oxen 🐄
3. He asked those who sold doves 🕊 to take them out.
SOMEONE MIGHT ASK, WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THAT MAKE.
QUESTION:
What’s the difference in how the 3 major categories of animals mentioned were driven out. Why? What lesson does that teach you as a believer?
REVIEWS:
Even if you have not written any comment, I believe everyone has one or two answers on their mind.
● I WANT TO BELIEVE THOSE ANIMALS SPECIFICALLY WERE SOLD IN THOSE DAYS BECAUSE OF THEIR NEEDS FOR SACRIFICE IN THE TEMPLE What was a need could become an object of distraction.
● I ALSO WANT TO BELIEVE THAT THE SHEEP 🐑 AND OXEN COULD RUN ON THEIR FEET. THAT WAS WHY JESUS DROVE THOSE ANIMALS OUT. I BELIEVE THE DOVE WAS INSIDE THE CAGE. THAT WAS WHY JESUS INSTRUCTED THE THOSE WHO BROUGHT THEM TO TAKE THEM OUT. God knows how individual situations are, and He wouldn’t ask you to do what He knows you can not do. He also gives room for a way of escape.
After you might have prayed, do those aspects He knows you can.
