*THE SENT ONE*
JOHN 9:4
I *must* work the *works* of Him *who sent Me* while it is day; the night is coming when *no one can work.*
Jesus Christ was the Word of God sent forth in flesh or human form.
1 Timothy 3:16
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: *God was manifested in the flesh.”*
JOHN 1:14
“And *the Word became flesh,* and dwelt among us, and *we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father,* full of grace and truth.”
Galatians 4:4
“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman.”
Psalm 107:20
*”He sent his word and healed them* and delivered them from their destructions.”
It was not just the spoken word but the living word who came in human form.
*How did he heal us?*
Mathew 8:17
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “ He Himself took our infirmities *And bore our sicknesses.”*
What type of sickness was Isaiah referring to by
*”bore our sicknesses”*
Peter explained the only sickness he bore on the cross called sin. Then, he highlighted the same scripture we normally associate with physical healing as it relates to sin.
1 Peter 2:24
“He himself *bore our sins” in his body on the cross* so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; *“by his wounds you have been healed.”*
What Christ first of all healed us from was our sins.
Before sin came into the world, there were no sicknesses.
Jesus went straight and dealt with the tree 🌳 of sicknesses from its root(sin)
In James 5:14, he help us shed light on how sicknesses can sometimes be traced to sin.
“And *the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well;* the Lord will raise them up. *If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”*
So, when Christ talked about the work of Him who sent him, he was talking about healing us from our sin.
Then, He told us to go in his name and spread the good news.
He is still the sent one. Not physically on the street of Jerusalem, but in us who believe.
He is moving to those whom he had been sent to through the church(i.e member of his body on earth.)
How you know Christ, through the preaching of the gospel has arrived in you is that you are healed from sin.
Sin will no longer have dominion over you.
Even though, Jesus is not physically present here on earth, He is using the preaching of the gospel through the saints on earth to beg sinners to come back to God.
2 Corinthians 5:20
*”Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”*
