LUKE 1:59-63
“On the eighth day, they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father, Zechariah, but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.”
They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.”
Then, they made signs to his father to find out what he would like to name the child. He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment, he wrote, “His name is John.”
Whenever God wants to change the course of a thing on earth ???? He changes names.
God determined that the offspring of Zachariah would be the forerunner of the Messiah. This was an assignment that had never existed before this time.
This change of assignment also reflected in his name. Those who attended the naming ceremony were surprised.
Your names tell everyone your identity. There are Christians who are treading the path of their ancestors because of the name they answer to.
“Therefore, God has highly exalted Him and gave him a name…”
Your name reflects your honor. There was a boy(Jabesh) whom the Bible tells us was honorable, but his name prevented the honor from manifesting.
In Genesis 12:2, God told Abraham:
“I will make your name great.”
Let God help you by you not letting your names hinder what He is ready to do in your life. If it would mean changing that name, you better do.
The meaning of your name is what you have agreed to be happening in your life whenever you are called.
