GENESIS 12:11-16
As he was about to enter Egypt, he said to his wife Sarai, “I know what a beautiful woman you are.
When the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.
Say you are my sister , so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you. ”
When Abram came to Egypt, the Egyptians saw that Sarai was a very beautiful woman.
And when Pharaoh’s officials saw her..He treated Abram well for her sake, and Abram acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, male and female servants, and camels.
LET US NOW TAKE OUR JOURNEY TO SEE HOW GOD WANTS US TO CRUCIFY THE FLESH
Before God intervened, Abraham preserved himself and became wealthy by telling Sarah to lie. Lie is simply a cover-up
The flesh is kept alive in believers’ lives through lies.
To be free, you have to speak truth to yourself.
Judge the flesh in you. Expose the flesh in you by telling yourself the truth. There are believers who don’t face the truth.
Don’t pretend you don’t know you. Whenever you see works of the flesh(jealousy, anger, hatred, malice, pride, gossip, unforgiveness, lies, moral behavior) in your life.
Be sincere to yourself and tell yourself, ” I see you gossip . I see you pride!
I see you Mr anger . You are trying to hide in me because you know that, every natural person have self defense and while I am trying to defend myself, I have been hiding you in me, pretending you are not hiding here.
*Today, I acknowledge my sin. You are trying to hide here. I bring you to light.”*
Some hide the flesh under the disguise of the gifts of the Spirit or under the disguise of how fervent they are in church; just like Abraham used Sarah to hide.
For many, as long as they are being used by God, they believe they can not manifest the flesh.
What the Bible says we should do is put to death the deeds of the flesh by The Spirit.
Some even use their offices in ministry to cover up for the flesh.
Isaiah 42:19 says
Who is blind but my servant, and deaf like the messenger I send? l Who is blind like the one in covenant with me, blind like the servant of the LORD?
Expose every unfruitful works of darkness.
If you must overcome the flesh, do it this way.
Speak the truth to yourself.
And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.
2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves . Can’t you see for yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you— unless you actually fail the test?
You may be gifted, but if you can’t see for yourself the self or flesh trying to take covering in you, then you will only be great in the sight of men but not in the sight of God.
EPHESIANS 5: 8, 9, 10, 13
” For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth— discerning what is well-pleasing to the Lord.”
But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
